Strength And Power PDF Print E-mail
Introduction

This book was inspired on the island of Bougainville, Papua New Guinea, in 2004. I was invited to the old capital Arawa. Because of the 15 year old civil war most of the bridges were down and we travelled from Buka by four wheel drive through the many rivers to arrive in Arawa. I was received in the traditional way with flowers, singing, dancing, foot washing, and anointing. I was informed it had been fifteen years since an international preacher had conducted a teaching seminar and everybody was very excited.

I had arrived tired after already doing extensive ministry in other parts of PNG. My schedule was to preach morning and evening for the next five days. The heat was oppressive and electricity was only available from a generator from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. in the evenings. That means no fans or air-conditioning! During the night when sleeping, and when resting after lunch, you would awake soaked in perspiration. It was difficult conditions.

I developed a very sore throat due to all the preaching and it developed into fever conditions. The expectation to minister was great and I felt I could not let the people down. So I decided I would tough it out and minister no matter what. It was an immense physical and spiritual battle. I needed help!

I decided to search the scriptures for words on strength and power which I could feed into my spirit to strengthen my faith and discipline my mind so I could endure this battle. Each afternoon after lunch I focused on strength and power and gained inspiration and strength to endure and succeed. The seminar was a great success and I was able to finish that race in faith.

All of us need more strength and power! Life has so many wonderful and powerful opportunities. Sometimes we feel weak and tired and are tempted to give in to our feelings. Subsequently, life can be robbed from us. Don't allow precious opportunities and time to be stolen from you because of low energy or strength. Build into your life God's promises for strength and power. Condition your mind for action. Live life to the max!

There will be times in your life when you will need supernatural strength and power. I encourage you to build into your spirit and mind God's Words on strength and power. There is an old saying 'dig the well before you thirst'. Develop faith for supernatural strength and power now! Before you need it! That way, when the major trials come your way you will be prepared. You will be able to draw from your spirit the faith to believe God for the supernatural strength to endure and come through a winner.

I trust you will enjoy these scriptural affirmations. Delighting in God's Word is a sure way to a satisfying and prosperous life (Psalm 37:4). You are richly blessed and I love you. Andrew Shreeve.

And the power, and the glory, forever, Amen (Matthew 6:9, 13)

And hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep his virgin,
Doeth well (1 Corinthians 7:37)

Have we not power to eat and to drink? Have we not power to lead about a sister,
A wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
Or I only and Barnabas, have we not power to forbear working?
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges?
Who planteth a vineyard and eateth not of the fruit thereof?
Or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
Say I these things as a man? Or say not the law the same also?
For it is written in the law of Moses,
Thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn.
Doth God take care for oxen? Or saith he it altogether for our sakes?
For our sakes no doubt, this is written: that he that ploweth should plough in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
If we have sown unto you spiritual things,
Is it a great thing if we shall reap your carnal things?
If others be partakers of this power over you, are not we rather?
Nevertheless we have not used this power; but suffer all things,
Lest we should hinder the gospel of Christ.
Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things
Live of the things of the temple?
And they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?
Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel
Should live of the gospel. But I have used none of these things:
Neither have I written these things, that it should be done so unto me:
For it were better for me to die, than that any man should make my glorying void.
For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of:
For necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!
For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward:
But if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me.
What is my reward then? Verily that when I preach the gospel,
I may make the gospel of Christ without charge,
That I abuse not my power in the gospel. For though I be free from all men,
Yet have I made myself servant unto all,
That I might gain the more (1 Corinthians 9:4-19)

A man indeed ought not to cover his head,
Forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God:
But the woman is the glory of the man.
For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head
Because of the angels (1 Corinthians 11:7-10)

So also is the resurrection of the dead.
It is sown in corruption; it is raised in in-corruption:
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory:
It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power (1 Corinthians 15:42-43)

We have this treasure in earthen vessels,
That the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us (2 Corinthians 4:7)

In all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God,
In much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes,
In imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;
By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost,
By love unfeigned, by the word of truth, by the power of God,
By the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left (2 Corinthians 6:4-7)

We do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy
And their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
For to their power, I bear record,
Yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
Praying us with much entreaty that we would receive the gift,
And take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints (2 Corinthians 8:1-4)

Though Christ was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him,
But we shall live with him by the power of God toward you (2 Corinthians 13:4)
I write these things...according to the power which the Lord hath given me
To edification, and not to destruction (2 Corinthians 13:10)

The eyes of my understanding being enlightened;
That I may know what is the hope of his calling,
And what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe,
According to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ,
When he raised him from the dead,
And set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
Far above all principality and power, and might and dominion,
And every name that is named,
Not only in this world, but also in that which is to come (Ephesians 1:18-21)

In time past I walked according to the course of this world,
According to the prince of the power of the air,
The spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Ephesians 2:2)

I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God
Given unto me by the effectual working of his power (Ephesians 3:7)

Above all that we ask or think,
According to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20)
I am strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might (Ephesians 6:10)
I...know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death (Philippians 3:10)

I am filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that I might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing,
Being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power,
Unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
And hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (Colossians 1:9-13)

I am complete in Christ,
Which is the head of all principality and power (Colossians 2:10)
Our gospel comes not...in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit,
And in much assurance (1 Thessalonians 1:5)

The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God,
And that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord,
And from the glory of his power (2 Thessalonians 1:7-9)

God...counts me worthy of this calling,
And fulfils all the good pleasure of his goodness,
And the work of faith with power (2 Thessalonians 1:11)

Then shall that Wicked be revealed,
Whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth,
And shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs
And lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness
In them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth
That they might be saved (2 Thessalonians 2:8-10)

God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love,
And of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord,
Nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel
According to the power of God (2 Timothy 1:7-8)

This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
Having a form of godliness,
But denying the power thereof: from such turn away (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

God hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,
Whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,
And upholding all things by the word of his power (Hebrews 1:2-3)

For as much then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood,
He also himself likewise took part of the same;
That through death he might destroy him that had the power of death,
That is, the devil; and deliver them who through fear of death
Were all their lifetime subject to bondage (Hebrews 2:14-15)

After the similitude of Melchisadec there ariseth another priest (Jesus),
Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment,
But after the power of an endless life (Hebrews 7:15-16)
I am kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation
Ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:5)

According as his divine power
Has given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness,
Through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue:
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:
That by these I might be a partaker of the divine nature,
Having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:3-4)

For we have not followed cunningly devised fables,
When I made known unto you the power
And coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:16)
To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power,
Both now and forever. Amen (Jude 1:25)
I overcometh and keepeth Jesus' works unto the end,...
And Jesus will give power to me over the nations (Revelation 2:26)
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:
For thou hast created all things,
And for thy pleasure they are and were created (Revelation 4:11)

Worthy is the lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom,
And strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing...
Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the lamb forever and ever (Revelation 5:12-13)

I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God (Revelation 19:1)

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:
On such the second death hath no power,
But they shall be priests of God and of Christ,
And shall reign with him a thousand years (Revelation 20:6)
