Welcome

Dear partners and friends, greetings in the almighty name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I pray the anointing and comfort of the Holy Spirit will encourage and strengthen your resolve to continue in the good fight of faith. The Lord is faithful and can be depended upon not to let you down as you place your confidence in His Words of promise.

During August I will be ministering in an undisclosed location and trust that we will be able to bring the Lord's hope, faith, love, grace, mercy and blessing to those who are weak and oppressed.

This months teaching is a timely reminder of the love and patience the Lord has towards us, even with our manifold weaknesses. The Lord loves and believes in you! Bless you, love Andrew.

Regardless of our faults and weaknesses, the Lord believes in us. The Lord is our cheerleader; He is continually urging us on. This is the case even when we are weak, make mistakes, have faults and commit sins. Some of us have had a mentality which focuses on sin and condemnation. We have beaten ourselves up when we made mistakes. We may have thought the Lord was angry with us and was going to punish us. We thought we should pay a penalty for our sins. It is true that sin always has a negative consequence; however the Lord is no longer angry with us when we sin (Isaiah 54:9).

We always pay a penalty when we sin, as we automatically reap corruption (Galatians 6:7-8). This is not God's specific, intervening punishment, but the law of sowing and reaping which God has established in the world. God has also curtailed sin through establishing secular, governmental law (Romans 13 4). The secular law is God's servant to use force to protect people from evil. There are two levels of governance in place to bring consequence for our sins - secular law and the law of sowing and reaping.

But what about God's attitude towards us on a personal level when we sin? God is aware of our sins and may withhold intervening blessings for those who continue in sin (Hebrews 13:4). For example, we would not expect God to promote the wicked with riches, honour, strength and greatness (1 Chronicles 29:11-12). Even though God may discern it wise not to elevate the sinful with great power (Proverbs 1:32); God's overall attitude towards us on a personal level, even when we transgress His holy law or man's secular law, is love - for God is love (1 John 4:8). The word love (Greek: 'agape'), which God is described as being, is defined by the bible in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. The Scripture says: charity (love: agape)… beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth (1 Corinthians 13:7-8). God's attitude is to love and believe in us, to hope that we will succeed, and to accept and never give up on us. This love attitude is based on God's love nature, plus the fact that God can justly accept us, even though we have sin, due to Jesus having already been punished for all of our sins. As the apostle Paul writes concerning those who are in Christ Jesus: if God be for us, who can be against us?... who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth (Romans 8:31, 33). Even though we cannot improve our right standing with God (as our right standing is based on faith in what Jesus has done), God's will is that we continue to improve our thinking and actions.

Regardless of our faults, God's wants us to keep our faith in Christ as our basis of righteousness, forgive ourselves, and accept His wonderful blessings, and great plans, which will lead us into a richer life. Sometimes Christians come under a feeling of condemnation because of their failures and sins. They struggle to believe they are good enough to be a Christian. They may even feel like quitting on Christianity and giving up. But if we really think about it, nobody is the perfect Christian! A Christian should strive for perfection and holiness - to be like Jesus. But all Christians continually fail in this endeavour, as we struggle with weakness, failure and sin. Not one of us can honestly stand up and say "I am perfect and without sin."

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us

1 John 1:8

A beautiful aspect of the gospel is that God understands our weakness. God maintains belief in us even when we break man's law or God's law. God says; "I know you are imperfect; that is why I sent Jesus." Jesus has taken our sins, absorbing the punishment, condemnation and shame that we all deserve. Jesus has borne our judgment. God says; "I understand; I love you, I am with you; I have great plans for you. I will help you; I believe in you, you are my son, my daughter. You have in you the seeds of greatness. Others may condemn, criticize and loose faith in you - but not me! I see your failures and sins and I still believe in you. Come on, keep trying, have another go. I will provide for you, strengthen you, and lead you."

The teaching of God's grace towards our weakness and sins is not intended to be abused through an attitude of laziness and irresponsibility towards the disciplines of love and holiness. God has demonstrated His belief in us by extending His grace to us. To some extent we all abuse God's grace when we sin. But God hopes, even when we sin, that we will in the future ultimately improve ourselves. God is wooing us through His great love and unending grace, believing we will obediently love Him from our heart, not because of some threat of divine retribution but because of an understanding of who He is. God endures with us, hoping we will fall in love with a genuine attraction to Him; His character, His holiness, His wisdom, His loving vulnerability, His willingness to forgive, His kind patience, and His authentic interest in our well being.

The gospel message of God's grace, love and forgiveness gives great hope to the weak and sinful. The Apostle Paul championed justification by faith, through grace, in his letter to the Galatians:

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by law, ye are fallen from grace. For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith

Galatians 5:4-5

We are commanded to keep ourselves from sin, but righteousness is not attained through our ability not to sin, our good works or maintenance of law. Righteousness is God's gift to us by grace, through faith in Christ. This teaching of God's grace is the offence of the cross (Galatians 5:11) and resulted in Paul's persecution by those who maintained circumcision.

Open your heart to the Lord. Confess you sins to Him. Ask for His forgiveness. Appropriate by faith His cleaning blood to your sin. Accept His gift of righteousness, which only comes through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ.

If we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanseth us from all sin

1 John 1:7

But not as the offence, so also is the free gift… much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ

Romans 5:15, 17

Walk in the light of the blood of Jesus Christ! Walk as a cleansed, righteous man or woman!

Most people under achieve not because of a deep revelation of God's unmerited favour, righteousness, power and grace through faith in the blood of God's Son - Jesus Christ. They under achieve because of a poor self image and lack of confidence. They know their faults and weaknesses, and limit their ambitions to the experience of their failures. They should rather limit their ambitions to who they can become in Christ Jesus! Let us not focus on our failures and weaknesses. Let's focus on what Jesus has done for us, and who God says we are in Christ Jesus. We need to develop a righteousness consciousness, a Word of God consciousness; a vision of our life according to God's promises, not according to our failures. Our failures are in the past. We must forget the things which are behind us, and look to the future.

Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect… Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus

Philippians 3:12-14

Know that God is in you; His love, power, ability, nature, strength, resources, joy, and His peace! Embrace His Word concerning you, His beloved bride and church! God has destined you for greatness. God created you and believes in you. He has uniquely gifted and blessed you with everything you need to fulfill His plan for your life (Ephesians 1:3, 2 Peter 1:3). Listen to His Spirit; you can discern His Spirit, in your heart, urging you on. He is saying; "I am with you. I am your Saviour, your lover, and your friend. I will never leave you. I will never reject you. I will always be there for you. I will always believe in you. I will always be your cheer leader." This is our champion - Jesus!

Pray with me; "Lord Jesus, thank you that you believe in me. Thank you that you never condemn and reject me because of my failings, weaknesses and sins. I know you will always lead me in love. You crown me with loving kindness and tender mercies (Psalm 103:4). You do not treat me according to what I deserve, but according to what Jesus' righteousness deserves. I am hidden in Christ, my blessed Saviour. I love you so much for all that you are, and all that you have done. I accept your gift of righteousness. I forgive myself, and get up and fight the good fight of faith; in Jesus Christ name, Amen."
