Dear partners and friends, Â Hi from Singapore! I recently completed a wonderful and successful time of ministry in Indonesia. We distributed 200 copies of "The Sword of the Spirit" translated into Indonesian, and I enjoyed a busy and fruitful preaching schedule. Praise the Lord for the faithful Indonesian brethren and God's grace and power to achieve these victories! Â Here in Singapore, in between preaching, I am taking advantage of a fast internet connection to further develop internet communication through andrewshreeve.org. I have updated the photo gallery, uploaded audio messages in Indonesian, Karen and Thai (still some tech difficulties with the audio) and made all of my (ten minute) 44 YouTube videos available from the andrewshreeve.org homepage. Â All goes well as we continue to fight the good fight of faith. The fiery darts of the enemy (Ephesians 6:16) continue to be thrown, but we keep extinguishing them with God's shield of faith. Therefore we keep progressing from victory to victory! Â This month's teaching on freedom from the curse is a clear reminder not to settle for less than what Jesus has obtained for us. Teaching - Free from the Curse Copyright © Andrew J. Shreeve 2011  Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us… that the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith Galatians 3:13-14  In the heart of Paul's teaching concerning the gospel of Jesus Christ and our justification by faith, we have the amazing statement that we have been redeemed from the curse of the law. Some may read this statement one of two ways: firstly that the law is a curse, and we are redeemed from the law; or secondly that the law has a curse contained within it, and we are redeemed from the details of that curse. A careful study reveals that it can only mean the later.  Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just and good Romans 7:12  Clearly the Lord would never call something holy, just and good - a curse. Therefore, Paul's statement cannot mean we are redeemed from the law. It can only mean that we are redeemed from the curse which is contained within the law. When we study the Law of Moses we do indeed find a curse contained within that law.  It shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe to do all His commandments and His statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee Deuteronomy 28:15  From verses 16-68 of Deuteronomy chapter 28 we find a long list of curses. It is these curses that Jesus has redeemed us from. We receive our redemption from the curse of the law through faith! This is exceedingly wonderful news, for when we believe and exercise faith in our redemption from these curses, we will experience freedom.  The word "redeem" means to buy up, ransom, rescue from loss (Strong's Dictionary). In other words, in redemption there is a payment made for the rescuing of something. In this case, the payment was the cursing of Jesus' body, thereby rescuing humanity from the power of the curse contained in the law. Jesus bought our freedom by substituted himself and taking the curse on our behalf.  I encourage you to meticulously study Deuteronomy 28:16-68 to find out what does not belong to us. As born again children of God we have certain rights and privileges and it is negligent for us not to claim these rights and privileges. It is not humility to suffer needlessly in an area that Jesus paid the price for our freedom. It is actually prideful as we are refusing to humble ourselves to the Lord's revealed will for our lives.  Our redemption includes such things as freedom from all sickness and disease (Deuteronomy 28:59-61); and freedom from poverty, hunger, thirst, nakedness and want (Deuteronomy 28:48). Isn't that amazing! The United Nations and many government and global, non -government organizations are doing a good work in setting up humanitarian programs trying to help free people from poverty and disease. The Lord also understands this important priority and has additionally provided a supernatural solution when He freed humanity from these two evils through the work of Christ 2000 years ago.  If Jesus has freed the world from poverty and sickness, why is poverty and sickness still present in many people's lives? The Scripture says, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith (Galatians 3:14). God's supernatural power is always received through faith. God will not 'force' His redeeming power on people as He has given us free will. If, however, any human being will humble themselves and receive the seed of God's Word (promising freedom from sickness and poverty) in their heart then God will be faithful to use His supernatural power to free that person from these terrible curses. Faith in God's Word will always bring God's redeeming power, regardless of how impossible the situation may seem!  Who hath believed our report? And to whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? Isaiah 53:1  God's power and strength is revealed to those who believe his report/ Word.  Pray with me: "Father in heaven, thank you that you sent Jesus to redeem us from the curse of the law which includes poverty and sickness (Jesus also redeemed us from eternal death which is the most important aspect of our redemption in Christ). I humble myself to your Word. I receive your Word in my heart. I will diligently meditate these truths until faith rises in my heart. I know when I truly believe in my heart I will forever be free from all sickness and poverty. Hallelujah! I pray this in Jesus Christ name. Amen."  Study Resources
