Welcome  Dear partners and friends,  I hope you enjoyed a wonderful time with family and friends over the Christmas/ New Year period. I spent my Christmas with the 'Karen' people, praying, teaching and fellowshipping around the Word of God. It was a beautiful experience as their love and appreciation for spiritual truth is so sincere. I am writing this letter from Hpa An, the capital of Karen State, Myanmar. We are enjoying a wonderful time. The hearts of God's people are wide open to receive the seed of God's precious Word, and our fellowship in the Lord is rich, with love and joy. Thank you to all those who sowed precious seed towards this time in Myanmar; I assure you that much eternal reward has been credited to your eternal account (Philippians 4:17).  Andrew ministered at four, three day seminars for leaders of: churches, government, health, education and business in the nation of Myanmar (Burma). In Yangon (Rangoon), Bago, Hpa An, and in a nearby Karen village more than two hundred and seventy people attended. In these seminars Andrew taught on the principles associated with receiving God's spiritual seed in our hearts. More than two hundred and seventy copies of Andrew's book, "The Sword of the Spirit", translated into the Burmese language were distributed.  In another meeting more than thirty children from Buddhist families prayed to gives their hearts to Jesus. Andrew also had the opportunity to preach the gospel to the elders of a Karen tribe who adhered to the Leikel religion. With the Leikel, Andrew called for the sick to come forward and be prayed for. An old lady reported that her sight immediately improved. In another healing miracle, in one of the seminars, a lady was sick, lying down and crying with hot fever. Fifteen minutes after prayer she was up and serving food. This was similar to Jesus' healing of Peter's mother-in-law in Matthew 8:14-15.  This month's teaching on "Precious Promises" will assist you to focus your labour in the Lord upon that which is eternal. It will bring blessing into your life so you in turn can be a blessing (Genesis 12:2).  Teaching - Precious Promises Copyright © Andrew J. Shreeve 2010  Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises (2 Peter 1:4).  The Lord describes His promises as exceeding great and precious. The Greek word translated precious is 'timios' meaning: valuable, costly, esteemed, honoured or beloved. We would do well to treat with honour those things the Lord says are honourable. We should give special attention to the things the Lord says are valuable and costly.  The way we should honour God's promises is to establish them in our hearts (Proverbs 4:23). The method of establishing God's promises in our hearts is meditation (Joshua 1:8, Psalm 1:2). The Hebrew word translated meditate is 'Hagah'. 'Hagah' has three primary meanings: speak out loud, study and use the imagination (Strong's dictionary). Meditation is the process of planting and watering God's Words in our heart. The Hebrew, or Christian, idea of meditation is to repeat God's Words out loud until God's Words capture our emotions and imagination.  Renewing our emotions, thoughts and imaginations to conform to God's precious promises is the primary area of Christian spiritual warfare (2 Corinthians 10:3-5). Without daily continual meditation our mind will not be renewed (Romans 12:2). Without a renewed, or renovated, mind we will not experience God's good, acceptable and perfect will for our lives.  Meditation of God's promises is the primary labor, or work, Christians should engage in with regards to their personal lives (Mark 4:26). We are each individually responsible for the condition of own hearts. God says that planting and watering the Word of God in our hearts is labour (1 Corinthians 3:8). We should take heed how we labour with God's Word (1 Corinthians 3:10). God says we can plant and water His Word with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay and stubble (1 Corinthians 3:12). Obviously it is better to labour with the gold, silver and precious stones of His Word, as this labour will endure the revealing by fire (1 Corinthians 3:13-14). The word 'precious', used in this verse is also the Greek word 'timios' (the same word God uses when referring to His promises in 2 Peter 1:4). The 'timios' stones of God's Word are His 'timios' promises!  God's promises are the details of His covenant with humanity. The promises are the details of our inheritance in Christ (Romans 8:17). When we labour to establish these promises in our heart we shall receive eternal reward (1 Corinthians 3:14). The precious promises will survive the trial of fire (1 Corinthians 3:13).  O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires. And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones (Isaiah 54:11-12).  The Lord's promise to adorn, or build, His church with pleasant and valuable stones is a reference to His covenant of 'shalom'. It is the eternal covenant of grace which God has made with humanity, received through faith in His Son - Jesus Christ.  Make sure your labour in the Lord is with gold, silver and precious stones. Labour with that which is eternal (God's precious promises) and your labour shall survive the trial of fire. Establish your heart in the love of God through receiving His exceeding great and precious promises.  Pray with me: "Father God, thank you that through Jesus Christ you have delivered to us exceeding great and precious promises. I esteem valuable what you say is precious. Please help me to labour in your Word with wisdom, and to establish my heart in your promises. Strengthen me to meditate your promises daily… so I shall partake of your divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). I pray this in Jesus Christ name, Amen."  Study Resources
