Dear partners and friends,
I pray the Lord will increasingly open our eyes to the glorious revelation of the new creation in Christ Jesus. God has supernaturally done through Jesus Christ what man tries, but fails to do, through man-made religions – God has made our inner nature holy. Through the new birth, our loving creator reaches into the depths of our heart miraculously making us new. I encourage meditation of the Scriptures in this month’s teaching, allowing the Lord to further reveal this profound truth to our hearts.

Receiving the divine revelation of the new creation in Christ Jesus is a foundation for understanding righteousness, holiness and authority. Without understanding the new creation, it is unlikely a Christian will have the confidence to truly believe they merit the exceeding great and precious promises of the Lord.
The Scripture says, as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7). Our actions eventually line up to what we believe about ourselves in our heart. It is therefore imperative we develop Scriptural belief systems about who we are in Christ Jesus.
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17
The vital question pertaining to being a new creature in Christ is: what has passed away and what is new? In 1 Thessalonians 5:23 the bible defines a Christian as a three-part being – spirit, soul, and body. A person becomes ‘born again’, or a new creature, by the fruit of the incorruptible, living, eternal, seed of God’s Word (1 Peter 1:23). God’s Word is Spirit, as Jesus said the Words that I speak unto you, they are Spirit, and they are life (John 6:33). It is the spirit part of a man, or woman, that passes away and becomes newly created in the new birth. Our soul (mind, will and emotions) and body, though influenced by the new creation, are not instantly recreated as our spirits are.
As our spirits are re-made in the new creation, it is wise to consider the nature of our new spirit. This is our new identity in Christ Jesus. In the context of the new creation the Scripture says: we might be made the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21). Our new spirit has been recreated by God as - the righteousness of God!
Be renewed in the spirit of your mind; and that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness Ephesians 4:23-24
Our new spirit has been created after God in righteousness and true holiness. For us to successfully walk in righteousness and holiness we will need to believe our spirit is holy and righteous. If however we believe our spirit is still sinful then we will act sinfully – as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7).
Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people 1 Peter 2:9
The Scripture declares we are a holy nation – our spirit is holy and righteous!
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace are ye saved;) and hath raised up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus Ephesians 2:5-6
It is our newly created, holy and righteous spirit which is sitting with Christ in heaven; not our sinful body and soul (1 John 1:8). Our spirit has been made alive and recreated with Jesus Christ. In the light of this new, holy, spiritual creation we can now understand 1 John 3:9:
Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for His seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God 1 John 3:9
Our new spirit is born of God. The Father of our spirit is the holy, spiritual, Word of God. It is the holy seed of God’s Word which has fathered our spirits to make us as a holy, new, spiritual creation. When the Scripture says “doth not commit sin” and “cannot sin” it is referring to the spirit part of us, the part which is born of God, where God’s seed remains.
Revelation of the truth concerning the new creation powerfully changes our self image and identity. This greatly assists us to walk in holiness and is a foundation to our faith, enabling us to receive the rich inheritance we have in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:17).
Pray with me, “Lord I thank you that I am a new creation in Christ Jesus. Thank you that my spirit is holy and righteous and has been elevated to sit with Jesus Christ in the heavenly realm. I know there is no sin proceeding from your throne in heaven; and therefore I know that no sin is proceeding from my new spirit man. I see myself as you have created me - holy and righteous. I choose to always endeavour to flow from my spirit, allowing holiness, and the fulfilment of your covenant promises, to invade my world, in Jesus Christ name, Amen.”
