Welcome
Dear partners and friends,

I pray this letter finds you in the state of ‘shalom’. Shalom includes the meaning of: safety, being well, happy, friendly, having welfare, health, prosperity, peace, favour, being perfect, at peace, rest, all is well, and whole (Strong’s Dictionary). Shalom also means: completeness, tranquillity, at ease, unconcerned, unharmed, and unhurt (W. E. Vine’s Dictionary).

In Isaiah 26:3 the KJV English translation of the Hebrew Word ‘shalom shalom’ is ‘perfect peace’. Notice in this verse that our mind needs to be on God’s promises to experience shalom. The verse also mentions trust or faith, which comes as we meditate God’s promises (Romans 10:17).

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace (shalom shalom), whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee                           Isaiah 26:3

The Lord has already provided shalom for all of us through the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus is the prince of shalom (Isaiah 9:6). The power to produce shalom in our life is available (2 Peter 1:3, Ephesians 1:3). The issue is, are we in faith to receive? Through meditation we plant, water, protect, and grow the seed of God’s promises of shalom in our heart (Mark 4:26), which will establish our hearts in faith, thus producing shalom in our lives.

I have just completed a blessed time of ministry in Singapore. In addition to the anointed and powerful preaching, teaching, and prayer ministry, 378 meditation books were distributed into the churches. I also had the joy of leading the sister of my host to the Lord.

May this month, and indeed this year, see an increase of the ‘shalom’ blessing of the Lord in your life! Love, Andrew

Testimony

Dear Ajan Andrew,

Greeting to you in the Name of Jesus Christ, for New Year blessing wish.

I have gone over what you taught at Friendship Church, Bangkok, Thailand (2008) more deeply and truly blessed by your teachings of the foundation of Faith.

We had finished our crusade before Christmas and more than hundred souls were saved. I have seen with my own eye many got healing from the debt, blindness, back pain and all kind of aches.

I saw many hands raised to accept Jesus, and spoke with their mouth to welcome Jesus into their life before they need to get healing… The Lord was very kind to me as He sent someone prophesied to me to going out and preach the gospel in the East and West direction of our land… Lots of love and prayers. M, Bangkok, Thailand.

The Offense of the Cross’ - Part 3

Let us continue our teaching from last month regarding ‘The Offense of the Cross’, in Paul’s letter to the Galatians. What many find offensive is the gospels declaration of justification by faith, apart from obedience to law:

Galatians 3:16 God’s promises were made to Abraham and his seed. Paul specifically asserts that Abraham’s seed is referring to Jesus Christ.

3:17 the covenant of Jesus Christ was confirmed by God at the time of Abraham. The Law of Moses was introduced 430 years after the covenant of Jesus Christ was confirmed. The law cannot invalidate, or make the promise of God of none effect. The law cannot destroy or make void the divine pledge of God. This is extremely important to understand! Paul asserts it is incorrect to apply the Law of Moses as to whether we qualify for the promises in Christ. This is based on the fact that the promises were established before the law was introduced.

3:18 The Apostle Paul further emphasises the inheritance was given by promise to Abraham. The inheritance was not given by adherence to law. It cannot be both law and promise. It must be either law or promise, and God chose it to be by promise.

3:19 If the inheritance comes by promise (without law), what then is the purpose of the Law of Moses? The Law was added 430 years after the promises were confirmed, because of the sin, transgression, or moral violation of the people of Israel. Paul however stipulates that the Law of Moses was only effective until Jesus Christ would come, to whom the promise was made. In other words, the Law of Moses had a limited time of use. It began 430 years after the promise was established; and ended when the one to whom the promise was made arrived, approximately 2009 years ago. After Jesus Christ came the Law of Moses ceased.

As New Covenant born again Christians, we need to read the Old Testament Scriptures in the light of this teaching of the Apostle Paul. Otherwise we will wrongly divide the Scriptures and put ourselves back under the Law of Moses and its curses. If we try and believe we deserve a promise of God based on our obedience to the Law of Moses, then we are not exercising faith in Christ. Rather we are appealing to our own merit of keeping an expired law. To teach a Christian that they receive the promises of God through obedience to the Law of Moses is incorrect. This is legalism and a perversion of the truth.

3:21-22 Law can never bring right standing with God, as everybody is a sinner and is unable to fully keep the law. God has therefore made right standing with Him available through faith in Jesus Christ, without law.

3:23-25 the law was a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might become righteous through faith. Once faith has come, and we are ‘in Christ’, the law has served its purpose, and becomes obsolete.

Pray with me: “Lord I thank you that I am right with you through faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus is my righteousness. I understand the Law of Moses served a good purpose in containing sin and bringing the people to faith in Christ. Thank you I am no longer under the law and its curses. I am now the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus, and every promise of God belongs to me through faith (2 Corinthians 1:20, 5:21).”
