Personal Interview with Andrew Shreeve

WHAT IS YOUR ANCESTRAL BACKGROUND?

My family emigrated to Australia from three nations - England, Scotland and Italy. My great, great grandfather, Thomas Linton, was the Superintendant of Police and Procurator Fiscal, Parliament Square, Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland, in the mid 1800's. His son, my great grandfather, Dr. Edward Linton, practiced medicine in Wellington, New South Wales, Australia, in the late nineteeth and early twentieth centuries. His son, my grandfather, Philip Linton fought for four years 1915-19 during the First World War, ANZAC force, 12th Australian Light Horse Regiment, 4th Machine Gun Squadron - Gallipoli, Turkey, Egypt and Palestine (Israel).

My great, great, grandparents, Lorenzo and Maria Spinaze, emigrated from the Province of Venezia, Italy. They arrived in Sydney, Australia in 1881 and pioneered, with other Italian families, the area called 'New Italy', just south of Ballina, New South Wales. My great grandfather, Albert Sheather, married the daughter of Lorenzo and Maria and became the mayor of Ballina.

My grandfather John Shreeve, emigrated from England to Australia in the early twentieth century. He became a successful sheep and wheat farmer at Peak Hill, New South Wales. His son, my father, George Shreeve, worked for the Bank of New South Wales (later called WESTPAC) for 43 years and retired as a bank manager.

where were you raised as a child?

I was raised in a Christian, Methodist family, in the country regions of New South Wales, Australia.

How did you become a Christian?

In 1983 I wholeheartedly invited the Lord Jesus Christ to come into my life, to be my Lord and Saviour and became a born again Christian. In 1983 I was water baptized at Wilton Baptist Church, England. In the same year I was baptized with the Holy Spirit of God, and received the gift of praying in unknown tongues (Acts 10:45-46).

IN 1983 YOU STARTED preaching the gospel INTERNATIONALLY. WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

I began preaching within a few months of committing my life to Jesus. In 1983 I began preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ internationally, whilst serving on the youth, Christian, discipleship, training ship the ‘M.V. Logos’, with the mission organization ‘Operation Mobilisation’. I began preaching on the streets in many foreign nations, and later in schools, prisons, and churches.

What is your Christian educational background?

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in theology from Murdoch University, Perth, Western Australia. I also have a Diploma in Christian Ministry from Rhema Bible Training Centre, Perth (2 year course). I also received 2 years international missions training with Operation Mobilisation on the ship M.V. Logos. My calling is to minister to all the body of Christ.

Where have you preached the gospel?

I have preached the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in over forty nations of the world including: Australia, the Pacific Islands, Asia, Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, and North, Central and South America.

What interests do you have outside your ministry?

I am interested in good food, health, beautiful nature, and international travel. I like to keep fit through frequent exercise, a healthy diet, adequate rest, and positive thinking. As a kid I played all kinds of sport including: squash, tennis, cricket, table tennis, swimming, athletics, body surfing, and various types of football. I enjoy long board surfing when I get the opportunity, gym and trekking. I keep informed concerning international and domestic affairs, business and politics.

Do you have family?

My family currently includes: my dad and mum, my two elder brothers and their families, uncles, aunties, and cousins. I have lived away from home for most of my adult life and have learnt to enjoy the friends I have around me. I make priority to regularly visit my family, as they are very important people in my life.

What sort of secular work have you done?

I have previously worked in: banking, insurance, real estate, and  the marketing industries. On a shorter-term basis, whilst studying, I was employed in: labouring, factory, and warehouse work.

Were you always a committed Christian?

During my adolescent years, between the ages of 14-21, I experienced peer pressure, and the things of this world. Subsequently, I was not walking in the light of God's Word. I had little revelation knowledge of God’s Word, and the enemy was able to influence my life.

What motivates you to go on with ministry?

Firstly, I just yield to the leadings of the Holy Spirit. If I am following the leading and will of the Lord I am motivated, because I am walking with the Lord who is the way, the truth and the life!

Secondly, I love people and want to help people fulfil their God-given potential and calling. I do this through discovering and revealing biblical truths to others, which is my primary gift and calling from the Lord. Andrew Shreeve Ministries is a vehicle to reveal these truths to others, and assist them to experience more of the Lord's love and power.

The Scripture teaches that those who have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord are eternally lost. In other words, if they do not become spiritually born again they will spend eternity in the lake of fire, with the devil. Love for the Lord, and these lost people, motivates me to use my gifts, talents and resources to help save these precious people. I do this through releasing the Lord's knowledge, power, and anointing to individuals, and to the church, so the church is better equipped to win the lost into God’s eternal kingdom, and to make successful disciples of the Lord Jesus.
